Jasper strolled down with his friends taking in the peculiar garb of the locals as they passed on the busy street. Light from the two suns were still fairly bright casting what seemed to the man peculiar shadows. Not many of the Azzians paid much attention to them as they scurried along about their business. They had begun to become more accustom to off worlders visiting and the novelty was wearing off. On the breeze the aroma of food wafted out of a doorway as patrons left the establishment.

"Anyone hungry," Jasper asked as they breathed in the smells, "I wonder if they anything like beer?"

Johnathen had almost forgotten how wonderful it felt to be on a planet, feeling the warmth of the sun, or suns in this case, on your face, the fresh breezes blowing through your hair, the fitness of the ground beneath your feet. And the smells! He was taking in so many different aromas, he probably was starting to look like an old bloodhound, moving his nose about, sniffing everything he could. Of course, this analogy was just in his head, he wasn't throwing his head about and pressing his nose to various objects. "Sounds good to me! What do say, Cas? Wanna try some of the local grub?"

Cassie squeezed the man’s hand and nodded. She was interested to see how the planet after what felt like years and years of being in space. “I would.” The food on Rosie was good but something less plain would be nice, something to get the blood pumping would be more welcomed.

Hal perked up at the mention of food. "I could go for a bite." he smiled

Jasper stopped and looked at the sign that glowed in the window. It was something like neon but seemed oddly different, "Dav' gar..til, anyone know what that means?" He could see trough the window Azzians setting at tables as a woman came around with a tray setting plates and bowls of food for the patrons to eat. "I'm game," Jasper said with a chuckle, "have no idea what that is they're serving but it sure looks good?"

Johnathen agreed with Jasper. Just being on the planet, eith his friends, and not being in imminent danger, was starting to reignite the spark of energy in the young pilot. Moving to the door, he saw that it had an actual doorknob! Taking hold of the antiquated item, he pulled open the door and allowed Cassie to enter first.

Cassie smiled over her shoulder at the man as she stepped inside the restaurant. She wore a blue summer dress and her long hair up in a ponytail showing off her vulcan heritage for once. It wasn’t often she did that at all.

“Not like we’ve all not tried new things recently.” She commented on wickedly.

Johnathen chuckled to himself about Cassie's comment. However, he still noticed that something was off about the woman he loved. He decided to keep an eye on her, hoping that whatever it was, it wasn't serious.

The ting of a bell announced their entrance and caused Jasper to look up in surprise as the small silver object that hung down just low enough that the top of the tall door struck it. He saw a woman with long blond hair walking over towards them. Her locks were partially covered up by a thin translucent veil like head covering that left her face exposed allowing the new arrivals to see her warm expression. Her eyes were a pale coco brown and her skin the color of old vellum. She wore what best resembled an old Earth Indian sorry. It was red with a vivid blue and green floral design embroidered onto the fabric that had a silken sheen. On her head was a red stone set in a silver setting that dangled down by a silver chain just above her eyes. On her gown was a brooch if a beautiful emerald green also set in a silvery setting.

As she approached the woman bowed gracefully and then glanced at the group, "may time smile on you, welcome to our humble dining place."

Cassie smiled at the woman finding her outfit gorgeous. It reminded her of old robes she had seen on Vulcan before the enlightenment. “And on you.” She answered for the group as the woman led them to a table in the middle. It wasn’t everyday they got outsiders in the restaurant, it seemed to be a big thing.

"Is this your first visit to Azzia?” the woman asked as she smiled at all her new guests, "I am Kazi'ot Tovi Dob'li and will be your waitress." She glanced over her shoulder at another woman who stood behind a nearby counter who then nodded back and disappeared into another room. She returned her gaze to them and smiled at them again.

Hal smiled as he took in the ambience of the place. But to tell the truth, he was just glad to be there with his buddies.

Jasper gazed at the woman and offered her a smile, "this is our first time, yes."

Johnathen smiled and nodded as Jasper spoke up first. He could smell a wide array of aromas coming from the kitchen. Suddenly his mouth was watering. "Whatever is cooking back there smells delicious, Ma'am!"

"Thank you sir," Kazi'ot said with a slight curtsy, "we do not have much call for foods that are from other worlds yet so all of our dishes are Azzian." She glanced around at the other and continued her description, our diet is primarily plant-based though we do eat fish and sea food and during certain times of the years we have nahzi', it is a bird i understand that is similar to a small human chicken."

She turned her attention back to Johnathan and added, the dish you are perhaps smelling is Dovo'lak, it is one of our signature dishes."

"Well, whatever it is, I'd like to try some!" The young pilot responded excitedly.

"Smells like that place you took me to in San Francisco that had that food... what was it..." She sighed unable to find the word. "It was some type of pasta and it was very yummy," Cassie commented on closing her eyes as she sniffed the air. There was a blush on her cheeks that was unusual for her but she seemed calm and almost at ease.

Smiling, Johnathen turned to Cassie and replied, "Oh! You mean East Garden! Yeah, that place had the best Chinese food on the entire east coast! You liked their egg foo young."

The azzian woman smiled. "Yes we do serve what humans call pasta with a variety of sauces and seasonings."

She drew a breath and looked around the table, "would any of you be interested in something to drink we do have some of what I believe the Federation calls spirits. We have an assortment of wines and beers you might enjoy."

"Um, wine would be nice for me along with some water if possible. I'm boiling." Cassie said, before any of her male friends could even open their mouth to say anything. She had been feeling like she was heating up since she had gotten off the shuttle.

"Certainly," Kazi'ot said, "I will bring out a few bottles for you to choose from," She smiled at the woman and continued, "I realize our planet is a bit warmer than you would be used to."

"Very much so." Cassie replied, fanning herself for a moment before she realised everyone was looking at her.

Jasper glanced between John and Cassie then back to the woman trying to figure out what was really happening. "you mentioned beer, I'll take a glass." He furrowed his brow for a moment and added, "this is real beer right, not some syntha, what was it, synthehol thing?"

"We only serve beer that contain's Alcohol," Kazi'ot said as her smile faded, "I am not sure what synthehol is." Her smile returned as she glanced around the table, "anyone else like some spirits?"

"I'll have a beer too, please?" Johnathen spoke up. He then looked at Cassie, some concern crossing his face at her unusual behavior.

"What I drink?" Cassie said in comment to the drinking comment. She did drink alcohol, just not often enough that they noticed. She was feeling a lot freer than she had before and it was a nice feeling despite the heat.

"A beer sounds great now that you mention it. Count me in for one too." Hal spoke up.

Kazi'ot smiled and left to get the drinks. After she left, Johnathen looked at his friends. "So, I guess after this shore leave for Rosie's crew, we need to decide what we are doing, huh? What are you guts thinking of doing?"

"Honestly man, I don't even know," Hal said. "It was good to feel useful again on the bridge though. But I just don't know."

Cassie looked at the group, then saw a group of Vulcans pass by outside and frowned as she covered her ears just a little. She didn't need a group of Vulcans wondering about her or the group she was with. "I am staying with them." She looked at Johnathen and then the others. "We don't have to decide as a group. I am staying to make sure the others are safe." They all knew who the others were. They were the crew that had slipped into a coma during the extended transporter stay.

Johnathen nodded. "I was thinking the same thing, Cas. Those are our shipmates. What's more, now, they're basically the only family we all have left. I'm going to stay too." He looked at Jasper next.

"I know the ship better than any other, it's the closest thing to home I know," Jasper replied with a smile. He toyed with his beer mug absently as he continued, "and to be honest I'm a bit upset about the fleet forgetting about us."

Cassie smiled and poured water for everyone before her drink was put down. She looked at the bottle of wine like she was reading it before she poured that into another glass. "Looks good. Thank you." She downed the glass like it was water.

"Easy," Jasper said watching the Vulcan, "that's the real thing and from a world, you're not too familiar with."

Cassie looked at the man but said nothing in regard to the comment as she took another sip of the water to appease him. Did he know how easy it was to get real booze on Rosie? He didn't have the right to comment to her and the only one who did wouldn't dare.

Hal just smiled. Nothing ventured, nothing gained he thought as he sipped on some water. Must be good he thought, in anticipation of the beer that was forthcoming. He downed a sip and was instantly impressed. "Now..that's good stuff!" he said. "And good point, Jasper."

The Ops man looked over at Hal and smiled broadly, "had my share of surprises when downing gut rot from who knows where." He chuckled and took a sip of his own, "hope the waitress comes back for our food order, "I'm thinking some fish might taste pretty good."

"Still always hungry I see." The only woman spoke up over her glass of water. They hadn't really spoken much since they had gotten out of the transporter. Where there used to be talking it was now difficult and almost to her that they weren't friends anymore.

"Alway," Jasper replied with a laugh, He glanced around the group with a large grin and raised his flask of beer, "to the Ishimura and her survivors." He let his eyes rest on Cass and nodded, "for old time sake."

Johnathen raised his mug in reply to Jasper's toast. "And to everyone that we've lost. We owe them full, happy lives for ourselves." He made eye contact with each of his friends as he spoke. He made a personal vow right then that he would not allow the gift of his life go to waste.

'Hear hear' Hal said, making eye contact with all his friends. "And to whatever the future holds.'
