It was early in the evening as Deacon led the Rosies into the Burren. He knew it would be a good bar to start the night, small but with a decent bar and good size dance floor, it was a place to start to get their groove and loosen up. It was a small group, definitely, minus one face he wanted to see, and the two women appeared to have interests within the group already. He chided himself for those thoughts. These were his treasured guests and he their humble guide, supposedly the one who would be keeping them out of trouble.
As they entered, Deacon could see Chandra behind the bar, when he waved at him when he caught his eye "MONK!" he yelled across the open space, "It has been too long my good friend and who do you bring with you?"
"Thirsty customers, with fat wallets and low standards." came the reply, "But their first two rounds are on my tab so let's serve the something decent."
Chandra took on a haughty attitude and said, "My good man this establishment only serves that which is excellent!" But his face soon split into a wide grin.
"Ok we'll take six of those", Deacon shot back, as the beers appeared on the bar in front of them he added, "Drink up folks, the night is young and this is the only way I'm getting any prettier."
"Don't mind if I do Chief," Jasper said with a broad grin as he grabbed a glass. He raised it up towards his mouth and glanced over at the CO, "and if there are truly seven women to every man we certainly are changing that statistic."
Micheal grinned slightly as the group entered the bar. The ambience of the place certainly felt like his kind of place. Seeing the dance floor, he hoped that he could get Dixoho to dance with him at some point. Hearing Jasper's comment, the large Texan replied, "Well, don't know 'bout you, partner, but one woman is plenty for me."
“You can always change your mind,” Dixoho said with a smirk as she watched Cassie out the corner of her eye as she moved towards them. The older woman looked flushed, to say the least, and a lot happier than she had seen her. Maybe Johnathen and her were better?
Jasper chuckled, "who said anything about needing more than one woman?" He grinned after taking a sip, "just makes my odds better anyway."
"Aww Jasp. We need to find you a woman." Dixoho said with a grin as Cassie flung her arms around the pair pulling the two to her. Dixoho raised an eyebrow at Jasper as the man knew her better than anyone else currently in the area.
"I love this planet." The Half Vulcan proclaimed.
Johnathen finally made his way through the crowd, to find his friends, both old and new. "Hey guys! Have you tried the...the... this fruity drink?!" He handed over the drink he had been consuming, which he could not remember the name of. It was in a goblet that had a scene of twin suns about to reach the horizon carved into the outside. Inside was a concoction that smelled very sweet and very alcoholic. The fluid itself was amber in color, with two round ice cubes in it, each one was colored the same hue as one of the twin suns that Azzia orbited.
Dixoho waved at the man who had finally joined them and pointed at Cassie with her arms wrapped around Jasper and herself. "Glad you found us Fly Boy," Cassie said earning another raised eyebrow from Dixoho.
Jasper looked at Cassie puzzled by her behaviour but made no effort to get her move. He then looked at Dixoho and chuckled, "I have no idea what's gotten into her."
Deacon shared the puzzled look as he came back to the table with the next round of drinks and several women in tow. He could have sworn Cassie was with 'Brooklyn'. "Deacon, you lied to us." Complained one of the women pursuing her lips dramatically, "You said this one was all alone, but look these two have already claimed him as their own!"
"Well that just means they've left the other two for us," Said the other as she sauntered over to Johnathan, dipping her fingers into his drink, "Look Rama, he's enjoying our sweet local offerings." She said in a husky voice, licking the amber liquid off her fingers one by one.
Rama grabbed her friend's hand sucking one the last of her fingers, "Mmm mmm, he does seem to have a taste for the what's local, Leela" she added looking Johnathan up and down like a starved tiger hungering a side of prime beef, "I say we expand his palette."
The third walk over to Micheal, "I guess that leaves you to little old me." She said taking the remains of his drink and knocking it back.
Micheal looked down at the attractive brunette and gave her a polite smile. "While I'm certainly flattered by the offer, ma'am, I'm afraid I won't be able to entertain any of your advances. There is already a beautiful woman in my life, and I am completely satisfied." He carefully extricated himself from the woman's clutches, and then helped Johnathen out of his doublesided predicament. "Ladies, this pup is not ready for your vigour. I'd suggest you seek your prey elsewhere."
Deacon looked at the scene that was quickly going sidewards from what he'd hope would happen, getting Jasper's pipes cleaned out. "Hey ladies, the night is young, and they have a point. Let`s not scare our new friends too much." He quickly glanced over to Cassie and Dix to see how screwed he was.
"What have you done?" Dixoho laughed softly watching the three women looking like they were going to eat Jasper alive. It would be funny if it was anyone else but the poor man was only in this time a month, he was like a fish out of water.
"Totally misread a situation." He whispered. When Michael dismissed Alia, she looked disappointed but Deacon knew he could smooth things over. However Leela and Rama looked downright dangerous, they weren't happy about the 'prey' line and they didn't appear willing to give up Johnathen up.
"What situation did you misread?" Dixoho hissed at the Engineer who had been guiding them around the planet he had been abandoned on. "If you don't fix this 'situation' i will make sure Gregnol leave you here." She said in a friendly voice through the threat was very much a real one.
Deacon sighed looking at Dix, that red hair of hers was no lie. Shaking his head slightly he hoped 'Brooklyn' would have a sense of humor about this. "Leela? Rama?" He said almost apologetically, "Ladaka ek bhayaanak durghatana se theek ho raha hai." He said his hands generally pointing towards Johnethen's midsection, "Yah apane ling ka hissa kat gaya."
Rama looked at Johnethen's crotch with a mixture of horror and sympathy "Nahin aap jhooth bolate hain!" Leela shot back. Deacon did his best to look sad, shrugged and nodded. Thanks to the blessed effects of alcohol they bought it.
Almost to the point of crying, each of the women, in turn, cupped Johnathen's face in their hands, kissed his cheeks and gave him a sympathetic hug before leaving. As they disappeared into the crowd, Deacon could feel Dix's eyes on him. "You don't want to know." was all he said looking into his drink. He then thanked his cute and fluffy lor that none of the women had pressed up against the pilot, as their attention seemed to have some interesting effects on him.
Johnathen suddenly felt an odd sense of sobriety and arousal. His cheeks flushed bright red as he glanced at Cassie. Maybe it was the drink, maybe it was the hormones that were pumping freely in his close proximity, all he wanted, was to get Cassie safely out of here.
Jasper looked at Johnathan shrugged his shoulders slightly. His face bore a look of confusion as he stood there in his uniform feeling about as uncomfortable as he could get. It wasn't that the didn't like Cassy, that if she wasn't already attached to his friend Johnathan he would have enjoyed it, it was that she was and it made the situation feel awkward.
"Come on sweetie. Let's dance leave these boys to be eaten alive." Dixoho said kindly to Cassie to try and get her away from the group for a few moments so they could sort everything about without the girl who was acting drunk but couldn't possibly be as they had only just got here.
Suddenly seeming to come to his senses, Johnathen heard Dixoho's words to Cassie. Stepping closer to the pair, he first thanked Dixoho for her assistance with the locals. He then looked at Cassie. A slight look of worry was starting to fill his features. "Cas?" He asked softly as he reached up and gently held her face with both hands, turning her eyes to look at his. "Sweetheart, maybe we should step outside into the cool air. You look very flushed." He had never seen her like this before. As they stood there, his brain was working furiously, trying to remember everything he had learned about Vulcans, both from schooling and from Cassie. Slowly, the cause of her off behavior started to form in his head.
As the realization crossed his face, he leaned closer to Cassie and whispered in her left ear. "It's time, isn't it, my love? Are you entering Pon Far?" He made sure that his voice was only loud enough for Cassie to hear. If he was correct, this was a situation that she would want keeping as private as possible.
"No..." Cassie said sharply as she looked at the man before looking away, very upset. "That was a conversation you promised never to bring up." She added pushing him away from her a little more with Vulcan strength than she normally did. Dixoho stepped in.
"Hey, guys it is a fun night. Lets just have fun." She said as Cassie disappeared into the crowds. Something wasn't right with the woman at all. "What is going on?"
Rubbing his chest slightly, where Cassie had pushed him (he sometimes forgot that she was strong than she appeared), Johnathen looked at Dixoho and shook his head slowly. "It's... complicated." He watched the path that Cassie took and decided to go after her. "Excuse me, please," he added softly as he moved away from Dixoho, as he headed after the woman he loved.
Deacon watched the couple argue and storm away. He'd tried not to eavesdrop but vulcanoid ears being what they were made it a little imposible. The thought he heard Johnathen use the words 'Pon Farr,' of course it could just as easily been 'gone to far.' Easing his way over, "Hey Red, are those two going to be OK?" he asked, "Honestly, I was really trying to point the girls at Jasper, the loveless over here."
"I don't actually know," Dixoho commented on turning back from watching her pilot. "I don't think it is your fault Deacon... they are complicated." She said thinking it wasn't her story to tell so she couldn't tell him about the fact most of the group had been trapped in a transport for one hundred and fifty years.
Micheal pipped up. "Yeah, Dek, don't sweat it. Those two have a history together. I'm sure everything will be fine." Then, in an attempt to change the subject, the tall Texan asked, "Now, do you know if there's a local version of a pool hall or card table around here?"
"Yeah I know a place," Deacon replied, "It's just a few streets over." Suddenly Deacon felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand straight up he carefully scanned the room but saw nothing. "This place`s mojo is off anyway, we should probably get heading out." He still could shake the feeling, "RED!" He said, a half an active higher than he should, then nothing, it was just the bar, the Burren, the place he'd been drinking for months, "You should probably text the missing couple the address in case they want to catch up." He said.trying to cover his momentary freak out. Then smiling to Jasper said, "Come on Loveless, let's see if you have any luck in the next place."
The ops officer tilted his head as he had listened to Deacon's words not understanding
but getting the idea he was extremely uncomfortable. "Me," Jasper chuckled, "I suppose stranger things have happened."
As the group moved off to their next destination, no one noticed either set of eyes that followed them. One belonged to a tall avianoid, belonging to the Betelgeusian species. "Follow them, but don't get spotted," he said silently to his partner.
The short fat human put on his lightweight coat on and drunkenly off his bar stool. As he tried to join the flow of the crowd outside he accosted yet again by another group of women on the prowl. It had been the forth time that night, and it was getting pretty frustrating especially with their targets on the move. Bending over to tie his shoes the slender orion woman stood back up. Discarding the jacket, she cinched her belt on her now baggy pants and tied her tee shirt to expose her slender midriff. "Targets still in sight," she whispered into her comm as she continue on down the street being blissfully ignored by everyone.
