A Game Of Cat And Mouse

Mission: Mission 8 - Shattered
Location: ISS Gaman
Timeline: MD03 - 22:00
1309 words - 2.6 OF Standard Post Measure

Gregnol was pretty sure this meal was going to suck more than anything more, he didn’t want to be in the same sector as the Gaman let alone on the Gaman in a chamber milling around and making nice with Officers he would happily kill without another thought. He wore his uniform and he had even shaved his beard off but it didn’t change his appearance enough that he looked any warmer or approachable.

He looked across the room at his guest and smirked a little at the fact she was approachable, his new little Betazoid with the human name. He trusted Selina but he needed another one and this one with her PTSD was perfect as she kept several of his crew in check without him having to shed blood.

Hump entered the officers' mess looking dour as ever. Taking a drink from the bar he saluted his CO from across the room. Seeing Selina and the other inquisitors throughout the room he tried to relax and fill his head with thoughts of the twenty some odd issues he was having with the Fenrir, the Kavi twins, Mercia in particular, along with picturing every woman in the room naked. In other words, everything they'd come to expect from him.

Unlike the Captain and the Executive Officer, Asahi was in his element, not that that was difficult seeing as his grandfather had set the whole shindig up. It was not difficult for the young armory officer to pledge his allegiance to both Admiral and Captain alike, and while he knew there was tension in the air, there was nowhere safer for him than in the confines of the Admiral's own vessel. He made a point of sticking close to the crew of the Fenrir, as all good Armory Officers should, but kept his gaze from the Inquisitors. Better to keep himself and his activities a secret, no matter how safe he felt.

A few minutes later, the doors slid apart again, and Micheal stepped inside, both human and cybernetic eyes quickly scanning the room for any obvious threats. Finding none, he moved over to the replicator and ordered a synthahol. The last thing he needed was to be less than totally focused right now.

Suna entered the messhall just behind the cyborg. She looked almost dolllike when compared to the massive man-machine. But as the cybernetic form quickly walked away, Suna spotted her nephew across the room with the Fenrir crew. With a stern look on her face she approached Asahi. "So my nephew, we must drag you away from you beloved ship in order to see you?" She asked smacking his arm sharply. "Or do I have to blame this ogre of a Captain of yours for not coming over so your grandfather can spend some time with his favored grandson?" She added pointing at Gregnol as she tried to suppress a smile. It had been far too long since she'd seen the young man, and by the looks of it far too long since he himself had laughed.

Unlike his own grandfather, Asahi had little intention of getting to know his aunt's various clones. He laughed nervously, but kept honorifics to himself. "There's a lot to do, and I'm not about to abandon the Fenrir in the middle of an important investigation."

"Pardon my presumption Ashisan. You are a man, more than capable of making a man's decisions. I will leave you with your honorable Captain and crew." With a formal bow to her favorite nephew she turned and left, feeling that she had lost yet another precious thing due to her honored sister. It wasn't Asashi's words that stung Suna's heart, it was the look in his eyes. She remembered the boy her played with her, who laughed and ran with abandon around her father's estate. The boy that looked at her as if she betrayed him when her honored sister revealed Suna's true origins.

On the list of things Harrington enjoyed, this event was not one of them. There was a time when things like this were enjoyable almost fun, but those days were long gone. If he wanted information he knew how to get it and if he needed companionship he knew where to go. He entered the messhall and scanned the crowd, hoping that something would happen to get him out of this. Discreetly making his way to the bar, he ordered a drink and took a seat. If he was lucky he'd get overlooked and this meeting would end quick and fast.

Tucker arrived a little later than he'd have liked, but that was the work of an Operations officer on a starship the size of the Gaman. He was in his uniform and he'd actually been looking forward to this event, most offers hated them but he saw them as opportunities to see his fellow officers a little off balance. He was ambitious and willing to do whatever it took.

As she entered the mess hall, Sera clearly noticed that she was one of the last to arrive. She had been busy trying to figure out a few things and had simply lost track of time. Hopefully, those gather would understand the life of an engineer. Normally, these events held little interest for their intent, however, Sera understood their value as dressed up meet-and-greets and could normally take advantage. Quietly, she took an open place after asking the wait staff to give her something everyone else was having.

Halan Zeti, one of the few non-humans to hold a department head position and a very mean individual was one of the next to arrive. She had on her duty uniform that showed off her curves, her hair was up in a messy french braid and she had a fierce look in her eyes. She looked like a predator scanning the room as she headed to get a drink.

Mercia and Tali Kavi arrived together, the blonde and the redhead in their black uniforms, their subtle makeup adding darkness to their stony eyes. The red lipstick stood out however on each of them. Tali's blond hair was pulled to the side with two victory curls, and the rest of her hair pinned back.

Mercia's red hair was swept up into a smooth twist pinned to the back of her head. She was already looking for a mark or maybe the poet would be close by, that would be fun.

Tali looked at Mercia and rolled her eyes before she parted from her sister's side. She was hoping Tucker was here, and she wanted to simply lay eyes on the man.

The final arrival was the Admiral, who had waited till this moment for everyone to exchange their menacing looks and potential salvos of distaste. He had little to worry about, what with his various spies in the area, let alone the few family he chose to trust. As he walked in, his eyes rested first upon Suna, then to his grandson, before he took his seat near the dark-haired Betazoid who had snuck in to give the gathered a similar aloof aura.
