Akeyo ran her hand over her short dark hair and settled on her chair, waiting for a new client to arrive. She was new here and was eager to make a name for herself. Counselors could make or break ships, they could advise commanding officers in to success, or cause them to question themselves and lead to disaster. Counselors often became the voices of the crew on ships, ensuring that the crew had a proper work life balance as much as they could on a military vessel. The Federation knew it was important to help crews be successful, and be happy, they worked harder and advanced the goals of humanity when they were happy. Akeyo wondered if people actually understood how important a role counselors played in the future of mankind?

Ledeya smiled softly as she pressed the chime for the Chief Counsellors Office. It wasn't often to approached a Counsellor outside of a work situation or the mandatory requirements but Ledeya felt that seeing Akeyo hadn't come to her as of yet, the Captain would come to the Counsellor. As she was let into the room she smiled at the younger woman. "Lieutenant." She greeted stepping in enough to let the door close behind her.

Akeyo smiled brightly, "Ah! Welcome! Have a seat." she said motioning to the couch. "Help yourself," she said motioning to the coffee table with an array of snacks and simple drinks. "I'm glad you have come to visit, I have been getting settled in and trying to make all the appointments needed. You were next on my list." she chuckled.

"I am always on the Chief Counsellors list," Ledeya said picking up a juice. It was the only bad thing about her command that she had mandatory sessions with both the Cheif Medical Officer for her prescription and the Chief Counsellor for checking that she was coping with the prescription.

"Big surprise." she laughed. "So, how was your visit with the last counselor?" Akeyo asked. "Anything, in particular, you were working on that you would want to continue?" she asked. She knew the woman's history but hearing it come from her was the better route.

Ledeya found herself relaxing into the chair and smiled. "Strain. She never made me relax, I felt like I was very much judged for my consideration." Ledeya said with a small shrug, it was one of the reasons she had requested this woman over the Betazoid choice that was given to her.

"Counselors are not here to judge, and if they do, they're poor counselors. So do you feel strained now?" Akeyo asked. "What have you been doing to combat it?" she asked.

"Not in the slightest." She partly lied. She was stress but it wasn't anything other than the stress any Captain went through as in a Drydock where things had gone wrong including a virus attacking three decks and the Warp Core nearly being jettisoned thanks to Dockside mishandling it. "Nothing really just taking my medication to counteract my telepathy."

Akeyo made a few notes, "Tell me about your blocking your telepathy." she said softly. "I've heard it is like going blind. Have you felt that?" she wondered.

"I've not had any telepathy for over half my life. The war was two decades ago." Ledeya reminded with a shrug. Apart from incidents where her dosage had been wrong or there had been prescribing issues she hadn't had telepathy since she was 15.

Akey chuckled, "I suppose that means you have adapted well." she said. "Well I don't see any red flags. Let's have a check in next month unless you feel like you're going to want to talk before then," she said.

Ledeya was surprised by how simple this was going. She was a medical doctor still had her licence just encase but this felt informal and made her comfortable, to say the least. "I have good medication." She murmured with a shrug as she stood expecting to be allowed to leave.

"I can see that. We'll review more about that as I have time to observe you." Akeyo said also standing up. She reached forward and held her hand out to shake it. "It was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to helping to keep you sane in this crazy world." she grinned widely.
