Jeassaho frowned as she wandered into the mess hall and saw enough senior crew members to have made this trip down worthwhile. She sighed as she saw Jake. He had been with her husband the last time anyone had seen him, so that was a start. "Hey, have you seen Gregnol?" she wondered, joining the small table of people eating dinner.

"The Boss?" Jake glanced around. "Not recently. We split off after the meeting with the locals. Eden wanted to try to find some new food for Stan, so I said I'd join her."

Jeassaho frowned. She hated the worry she was now feeling. It was not like the man to check out on his ship for nearly ten hours and be uncontactable. It was just not him at all. He was never out of the loop to the point when he had been chief of security. It was a point new officers made that he knew far too much. "I know he did not come back to the ship with you, but that was eight hours ago, and I cannot track him down, and he is not answering his communicator."

"Easy, Jeassaho," Jake replied, patting her on the shoulder. "It's a small colony, he can't have gone far. Maybe he's planning some romantic surprise for you or something." He sensed she wouldn't believe that explanation. "All right, if you're worried, let's give Jinx a shout. Rosie's sensors might be able to find him."

The Betazoid raised an eyebrow at him and frowned. "Eight hours? He is a little less romantic than a lot of people, but even he is not that slow. I cannot raise him on his communicator either." She explained her rationale for now looking for the man.

Liha had not intended to intrude, but Romulan ears meant she'd heard a good part of the conversation. "Excuse me, but comm silence does seem suspicious. Where was he supposed to be down there?"

"It is not like him at all. He is fanatic about keeping in touch." It was a throwback to when they were out of touch and not able to communicate, but Jeassaho knew her husband, and she was worried. "I thought he was with Uhin and Ford," she explained, believing he would have come back straight away with them.

"Where's Uhin then? Is she answering her comm?" Liha asked.

"Yes. She is at the embassy trying to smooth all of the mess over, as she knows the Ardanans." Jeassaho was sure she was fine and safe where she was and had not seen her husband at all.

"Well, if you're worried, let's see what we can dig up. Someone must have seen or heard something," Jake replied, starting to take her a little more seriously. "All right. I'll draft some of the guys who are still around and have them do a walk-through. Maybe Jinx and her pet can try to track him down, too. How's that sound?"

"Sounds perfect to me." Jeassaho commented feeling a little more relieved that he was taking her at least seriously.

“Who needs tracking?” came Jinx’s voice as she popped up at the table with a tray. Well, just the top of her red head, anyway, until she climbed up onto the chair, putting the tray on the table and tossing a bit of targ haunch to Zambi, her cat-sized raptor.

"There you are," Jake nodded. "Think Zambi could find the Captain if we took her down to the surface? Does she track by scent or something?"

“Yes!” Jinx said with a smile. “She’s the best tracking longclaw breed,” she asserted. “Tracked a lost three-horn through a dust storm, she did! The boss is lost? Sure he isn’t just enjoying his shore leave? You know, like at the Motley Merkin?” She took a bite of her targ burger and munched it a bit before asking, “If you have something of his, clothes, something with his scent, it will be easier.”

Quin had wandered into the mess hall at either just the right time or just the worst time. To be honest, he wasn't certain. "Let me grab my bag and I can help in the search as well." He nodded, not sure who was leading the search. He walked over to the side of the table, but didn't sit down. He didn't want to intrude on their meals.

Looking between the small group that had started to gather, Jake couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at the number of folks wanting to get involved to find their missing captain. Either through altruism, genuine worry, or through a concern about pay, there were plenty of them standing there. "All right," he declared. "Let's go take a look."

Jeassaho felt a little more relaxed by the moment as the ship's senior crew arrived one by one and offered to help. It made her feel that people believed her that something was out of the normal for the man and his behaviour. "Maybe we go with Jinx and the Doctor, and Liha can go search in another direction?" Jeassaho offered, already thinking of what she can grab for Zambi to smell her husband from.

Liha frowned at being paired with Quin. Surely Jeassaho wasn't trying to pair them up as well? But given the situation, she didn't object. "If people are disappearing, I suppose the doctor does need a chaperone to watch over him."

"Very much so," Jeassaho said slyly, seeing the frown. It was the only option they had right now, and she was sure that they would be fine. "He will need protection. He seems to have trouble keeping out of it. I've heard about the incident last night with Cassie," she added, teasing the doctor just a little to try and keep her mood lifted at the odd turn of events.

Quin gave the Romulan an evil glare, "I think I'd rather take my chances with whatever is down there. Thanks for the offer however sweetheart," he smiled. He opted not to discuss the matter about Cassie, after all he was bound to some level of privacy when it came to patient care. "Now, we can sit here and trade insults, or we can beam to the planet and start looking for our Captain."

Jake glanced between the two. They either wanted to fight one another or bed one another. He couldn't tell. So instead he defused the situation as best he could. "Let's...just go see if we can find him, yeah."

"Come on," Liha said and smirked at the Doctor. "If nothing else, you can be my canary in the mine, hlai'hwy."
