Karis was leaving the holodeck after an excellent yoga program when she potted the Commodore coming toward her. Not thinking that she was coming for her, Karis smiled and gave half a wave before stepping to one side to let the other person go by without having to dance around them. But that wasn't what happened. She seemed to be still in the way. Karis stopped all forward motion and looked curiously at the other woman.

Ledeya was frowning to herself as she looked through the records of her senior officers and the crew assigned to them. Nothing was right, the majority of her crew were due for promotions and the next cycle of crew meant it needed to happen quickly for the chain of command. "Ah, Karis," Ledeya said not even noticing that the woman seemed to be wanting to give her space to carry on by.

"Morning Commodore. Did you need something?" Or had this just been a case of a lot on her mind and not noticing that Karis was standing there. This amused Karis as her hair was bright red and curly, she was not one who could usually blend in much to her disappointment sometimes.

"I do actually. Walk with me?" Ledeya said wondering where they could talk properly. The ship was small and cosy but it was also starting to get to her where other commanding officers had larger ships.

"Oh, alright sure." Karis picked up her pace and hurried after the Commodore. "Is something the matter?" It was always the first thing that popped in her head, perhaps she was paranoid but she had been through two bondings, one of them failed and the destruction of a starship all in the last couple of years.

"Not at all. How was your work out?" Ledeya wondered. It was unusual for her to make conversation like she was.

"Good, very stress-relieving." Stretching and pushing her body to do those poses and forms always cleared her mind completely.

"I prefer running myself but..." The woman shrugged as if it was not a big issue really. "Here will do," Ledeya said stepping inside the Library. The space wasn't exactly big but it had consoles, chips full of information and actual books that she grinned remembering how she had made the senior officers set up this space.

"Okay," Karis said, looking completely confused. She glanced around at the space, a space she hadn't even realized was on the ship. It brought her back to reading the Romulan books she'd borrowed from her first bonded. It hurt thinking about it and she turned her attention back to the Commodore.

"You did not know this place existed?" Ledeya realised seeing the confusion on her face with a small chuckle. "No many people have investigated this area as of yet. I enjoy the solace of it all and the fact I have it to myself most of the time. People have no sound it as of yet."

"No, I didn't. But now I want to drag Ryon back here. It's been a while since I've seen an actual book. I love books." She nearly bent over to read the titles but remembered that the Commodore must need something from her and straightened back up.

"You must not have been on board when I required my senior officers to set this room up. Idle hands create devils work I think is the human expression." Ledeya shrugged a lot and sat in one of the comfortable looking chairs and directed the woman into another.

Karis had never heard such a thing but she took her word for it. She kind of felt as if she'd been called into the principal's office, not that it had ever happened to her as a child. She'd been the responsible one while her sister was the class clown and had gotten into trouble on numerous occasions. She sat in the chair and looked at Ledeya.

Ledeya wanted to smirk at how uncomfortable and childlike Karis suddenly looked. It would have made her doubt her choice of Science Chief but Ledeya knew Karis and exactly what she was capable of. "This." Ledeya would have done a ceremony or something but she was sure that Karis would not want that so the woman held out a pip.

She frowned at first trying to see what the other woman was handing her then her eyes went wide. "Oh," she said as it dropped into her palm. "Oh, well I don't know what to say . . . .except thank you."

"We have crew joining and it would be unfair if you were anything less than that especially as you have been due for a while," Ledeya commented on. "I did not think you would what a ceremony. I do not do them myself." She added relieved that the woman seemed to be happy.

"No, this is just fine. I'm too shy for any kind of group gathering. I much prefer one on one conversation or a small sit down thing . . . but anyway, no need for anything else. Thank you," she said again with a smile. She knew who she was going to have put it on her but she didn't want to be rude and rush off.

Ledeya smiled at the woman and nodded. She had gathered as much but the woman was still new enough that she needed to get it confirmed. "I am glad I took the right approach then. It's been backdated to the beginning of the month as well."

"It's funny," Karis said with a little bit of introspection. "I can work with a group of people but when it comes to social situations, I can't think of anything but work to talk about, or some far fetched philosophy no one's heard of." She realized she was rambling on a bit. "I won't keep you here while I jabber on though."

Ledeya just smiled and nodded as she stood. "We all have our quirks Lieutenant and I do mean everyone. No one admits it but they do." She tugged her uniform jacket back down. "Maybe you can enlighten some of the crew with far fetch philosophy with this room now that you know about it?" She offered. It was about time the crew started forming activities and clubs.

"I will try that Ma'am," Karis said, standing also. "Thank you again."
