Lake yawned. It had been a long day but he hoped that Ledeya would show. She needed her sleep and for some reason he thought she was the type to sacrifice herself if something needed done. Hopefully she'd eaten, she said after dinner. So he made sure everything was picked up and waited for the chime on his door.

She knew it was late and she should go back to Cosmos but the thought of just seeing Lake for a little bit was too much to pass up. She pressed the chime and was surprised by how quickly the door opened allowing her to step in dressed in scrubs. "Hi." She greeted looking over to see him nearly asleep on the couch.

"Hey," Lake got up quickly, wiping the sleepiness off his face. "I'm glad you came." He hesitated only momentarily before approaching her and bringing her into a hug. "How was your day?"

"Long. I had forgotten how tough being a doctor actually was." The woman admitted snuggling into his chest breathing in the clean smell from him.

"Aww, well come tell me all about it. Or if you don't want to talk about it then snuggle up here and get some rest." He guided her over to the sofa. "Or . . . we could take the bed, I promise I'm a perfect gentleman."

"Do you mind if I take a shower first." She pointed to the scrubs she wore. It was so unlike her usual uniform. "I'll be the perfect..." She stopped not knowing the word so just rolled her eyes. "I promise to behave."

"Of course not, and unless you're intentionally trying to stab me in my sleep, we're good," Lake chuckled. And he gestured towards his bedroom. "Make yourself at home."

"Definitely not stab you," Ledeya said with a wink. She was tried and that normally brought out a flirty side. The woman squeezed his hand before she moved into the bedroom. It was a simple space but she found herself sitting on the bed for a moment to decompress.

He shook his head. She was rather an odd one. When he'd first met her he thought her walls had been made of neutronium but they had sure relaxed around him. She'd been warm around him lately. That was good . . . . as long as she didn't feel threatened.

Ledeya sat there for so long that she did not realise the man was stood there watching her. "Sorry I got in a daze thinking about the day." She murmured looking at her still bloodied scrubs.

"You okay?" He asked, stepping toward her to brush a fallen strand of hair out of her face. "Want to talk about it?"

“Just a long day.” She assured leaning over to undo her boots chucking them to the corner as he stepped forward and brushed her hair out of her face. It was hard to to explain to him about the death and destruction still happening this many days on from the original destruction.

"Okay," he nodded. "Shower, then bed for you young lady. Even if you don't want me to join you, still bed. You're exhausted."

The woman was tired. She stood up and took her comm badge off tossing it on the bed side table. She’d find it eventually again and disappeared into the bathroom stripping off the scrubs.

Lake sat down on the bed. This woman really was amazing, he bet he couldn't do half of the stuff she'd done in her life and still survive. "Take your time," He called after her and slumped back on the bed, closing his eyes for what he thought would be only moments.

Ledeya came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel and smiled noticing him. He was dead to the world and she did not want to disturb him. She grabbed up a tee from what seemed to be a washing pile and headed out to the living room to sleep on his couch.

About thirty minutes later Lake woke up realizing he didn't have any covers over him. It took his brain a second to remember what happened and he looked around for Ledeya. Finally he headed into the living room and frowned. "Hey," He whispered. "Go take the bed. I Can't believe you didn't wake me up. You can sleep there by yourself if you're not comfortable with me being there, but I'll not have you sleeping on the couch."

Ledeya had just drifted off to sleep and opened her eyes slowly. "You were out cold." She pointed out as she slowly rose. "Out cold and spread out." She slowly got off the couch putting the blanket back.

"Tisk, should have poked me or pushed me off the bed. Silly woman." He guided her toward the bed, tucking her in once she'd slipped inside. "I know you're half awake, but you look amazing in one of my t-shirts. Can I join you? Just to sleep?"

"Sure." Ledeya was too tired to do anything other than curl up and sleep. She longed for the days without an emergency to be able to just rest.

Lake made sure she had ample covers before slipping in beside her, draping an arm over her, but trying not to be too grabby. He felt her sink right away into sleep but he lay there for a long time thinking about what had happened between them so far and what kind of future they might have together.
