Mission: Mission 9 - Daucina
Location: Daucina
Timeline: MD03 10:00
1166 words - 2.3 OF Standard Post Measure

It had been many years since Alexis had been on a planet based base let alone a sea-based one she thought to herself as they appeared out of the transporter. The room was darker than expected and the woman raised her rifle instinctively. It was only by the minimal of lighting but nothing was out of place apart from the fact no one greeted them.

The Lowell class research Base was one of the original three that were still in operation after seventy-five years but this one was run by just a skeleton crew now and part of the reason they were there now. The crew hadn’t responded to hails for four days and it was by chance they were in the area for testing of the refitted systems.

“Anything?” The woman asked shinning her rifle around the room throwing some much-needed light around.

The CMO shook his head as he pondered the possibilities, "doesn't sound good."

Nathan moved along the opposite of the hall from Alexis and scanned a small room not much bigger than a closet before moving forward and joining the women leading this adventure. "We are all clear so far, sir." He said easily. "I haven't seen or heard anything."

"All quiet," Alexander muttered. The only sign of activity was the blinking lights and scanning noises that his tricorder made. He could handle activity or even a disaster area, but the utter silence was unsettling. It was almost as if everyone turned off the power and abandoned the seabase.

Alexis glanced back the people who had yet to move off the transporter platform and nodded at them as she stepped forward. It had been months since she had been in a situation like this where she was going into a situation with so much unknown. "So we lost contact three days ago," Alexis said reminding the group of the goals. "We need to find out what is going on and report back to Cosmos."

Vissia stepped off the transporter pad, her engineering kit was slung over her shoulder and she had a tricorder in her hand but she'd yet to flick it on. Instead she was taking a moment to just listen to the base, let her antenna see what they picked up. She took a few breaths before she turned on her engineering tricorder. "Looks like the base is on minimal power, even the hum of the reactor is lower than what I'd expect it to be. Do we want to split up and head for the command deck and engineering?"

"Yes." Alexis pulled out the schematics of the Sea Base and moved to put them on the console but the console just refused to accept it. "Engineering team needs to go here and Command team here. Who would like to go with zh'Cliasa." Alexis said her pronunciation a little bit thicker than normal and she gave an apologetic nod to the Engineer.

Vissia simply nodded back to the commander, most non-Andorians didn't pronounce it right anyway so it really didn't bother her. For the moment she was interested in getting deeper into the base to try and find any clues as to what happened to the crew or the base itself.

"I'll go," Aki piped in from off the transporter pad. "I got a bit of an engineering overview on one of my last assignments, it'd be good to put my few skills to the test. Maybe learn something along the way, eh?" he winked at Vissia, eager to stretch his legs after that trip. No matter how long it had been since they perfected the technology, Aki still thought transporters were weird.

"Sir, are you heading to the Bridge?" Alexis questioned the Executive Office knowing she had to follow him thanks to direct orders from the Captain.

"Yes I am, but I think you're doing well as field lead." Gavin pointed out. He had stepped back to watch the others organize themselves, curious to see how they would work together. "If it would be more wise for me to coordinate from the Bridge, then I happen to agree with that sentiment."

"I'll go too," Alex piped up. Not meaning to jump right in, he added, "I can boot up the Operations console to see if I can find any hint of what happened to the crew. Logs, sensor readings, and crew activity reports should be stored on the console in the Bridge."

"Just me and the kid here heading to engineering?" Vissia arched one of her brow, as he antenna went up slightly mirroring the raise.

"I'll Join you," Ranav stated, "they have to be down there."

Liam had moved over to a nearby console and plugged in a little device he had. It was intelligence based so he didn't usually tell people what it did, nonetheless, he watched as it skipped past files quickly until it found one. SFI:0001.

Unplugging the device and looked around the room to see the others chatting about their predicament, the lack of contact and rather spooky environment they had found themselves in. He smirked slightly, it reminded him of old Earth movies regarding zombies and supernatural forces.

"What are you doing?" One of the two Security Ensigns that Alexis brought along asked the Intelligence Officer. Lea didn't like him one bit, didn't like how he treated her boss and definitely didn't like him plugging in devices.

Vissia turned her head towards the question to see why it was being asked and to try and figure out what was going on. The security officer was looking at the intel officer and she narrowed her eyes as she listened with her antenna.

"None of your business Ensign, go annoy someone else with your questions," Liam replied matter of factly and making no eye contact with the woman in question. Instead, he began to review the files read-only information from the intelligence device he'd brought with him.

Lea looked at the man avoiding her gaze and glanced at the Security Chief but she was looking over where both teams were going to go. "I will annoy who I want Sir." The woman said as Alexis stood up straight and looked at everyone.

"Ready to split up?" The Security Chief asked.

Liam smirked at the young officers comment as he began to move towards the door. "I'm definitely ready to leave this room," he replied looking back at the room behind him.
