Mission:
Mission 10 - Temperance
Location: USS Temperance, Shuttle Bay
Timeline: MD12 20:00
1330 words - 2.7 OF Standard Post Measure
Gregnol looked around at the people he had asked to come to this meeting with the owners of the shuttle in the Temperance's shuttle bay after allowing them to dock. He had asked Jake, Michael and Fordyce to come along to the meeting and they were obvious choices but Draia was there for another reason, he wanted someone who was not human in the meeting other than Uhin. Someone who would have his back always helped but he knew sometimes she saw things that no one else saw and he needed that. He had suspicions who these people were and he wanted to see if it was true before he made a choice of the ship and the future.
“Here they are,” Gregnol said spotting the slight shift in the forcefield and something come through it. It took a few moments for the Captain to make sense of the ship that he was seeing as it seemed to have bits and pieces of all different types. Federation, Cardassian, Klingon, the human was sure he spotted even a Romulan hatch if he was not mistaken. “Burnie that isn’t one class of ship now is it?” He glanced at the Chief Engineer now understanding how a shuttle could evade sensor readings.
"No," Burnie confirmed, eyeing the vessel with professional interest. "There are bits from at least eight different classes from what I can see from here. And I'd bet there's a cloak klugded together from Romulan and Dominion tech in there as well." He rubbed his chin, considering. "Makes you wonder what they've got for armaments."
"Hopefully something a little less functional," Jake grumbled. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt this uncomfortable around the Rosie. There were too many unknowns about these newcomers. He shot a glance at his namesake Fordyce. "I hope you brought that gun from your quarters, like we discussed. Don't like taking chances."
"Me, neither," Ford replied, patting the work kit slung over his shoulder.
Valiyi had taken it upon herself to dress up for the occasion, choosing a neutral-toned dress that only flowed slightly at a breeze. Even if she was the only one who seemed open to the idea of meeting new people (with a hidden away phaser, just in case), she would at least dress the part. "We should at least hear them out. There are a number of reasons they could have a cobbled-together ship like this. Maybe we can pool resources."
Pacing from side to side behind the others, Draia Theroh had put less thought into the colour of her romper. In fact, it was a rather garish shade of magenta. What she had been intentional about was conspicuously strapping on her bronze-shaded armoured vest. "We're all grave-robbers here," Draia muttered, briefly throwing her arms into the air. "Digging holes in the middle of the black."
Ona stepped off the shuttle and approached them. Her hands were visible, her walk was deliberate but at a steady pace so no one got spooked. Her eyes focused entirely on their Captain. "I am Ona." She said offering her hand. There wasn't any need to mention last names, not that these people were likely to have heard of her anyway, she wasn't that famous, yet.
"Reuben." Gregnol introduced himself using his first name like she did not that he cared if they knew who he was. His business dealings were clean... mostly. He glanced up as two men slipped out the shuttle, one Andorian and one that looked Vulcan but it was hard to tell as he carried himself not like a Vulcan.
"My colleagues Atyss and Zazkeal." Where to begin? What angle to take with this man, she was watching him carefully, waiting for any clue that would determine her direction.
"My senior crew members." Gregnol introduced back glancing to the people he has selected before looking back at the pair that were stood there looking less than impressed with being summoned to the ship and their colleague having been captured as she had pretty much. "You can have your other colleague back. She unharmed and untouched." He glanced at Lihau with a nod allowing her to join them if she wanted to.
"Greatly appreciated." Ona gave Lihau a glance, their eyes met for a moment. To say she was disappointed might be an understatement. Ona had been hoping for a little more time to study them before having to tip any part of their hand. Now things were a bit more complicated. "I apologize if she gave you a start."
"Lurking below, messing with our work, and then coming out with a phaser pointed at my head is a bit more than giving us a start," Burnie remarked sourly.
"Oh I think this can just be summed up to a little misunderstanding. After all she didn't know who you were or what you were doing," The smile never faltered from Ona's eyes but if one knew her well enough they could see a flash move across her eyes. "I see no reason why we can't all be friends and work together."
"And for the record," Lihau butt in with a level gaze, unlike the one she had given them prior, "It's not like you guys were much better. Forgive my one vs all you mentality, but I'd prefer to not get shot."
"You were the only one with the weapon." Gregnol countered quietly before he looked at the woman who was the leader of the small band of misfits. "So where does this leave us?" He wondered looking around. They had not done much work but they had put in a lot of effort and there was a lot more his crew than them but that was not the man he was.
"That is a good question . . . . we could sit down and have a drink and talk things over." Ona suggested. Not all of them needed to sit down, the others could continue their work if she provided a bit of a distraction.
Zaza sighed slipped off from the group as he looked like they were at least staying for awhile. He could at least find something better to do than stare down crew. "I believe that might be a good idea." Gregnol mused glancing back at the people who had come along.
Jake nodded, agreeing with the sentiment as well as clocking the individual breaking away. He glanced around the rest, then stepped away to follow.
"Let's see if we can find something to drink." Ona smiled sweetly and gestured for the other captain to lead the way.
"Oh, no need." Valiyi stepped forward, making a point to keep one step behind the Captain and Ona. "I can easily send for the Denobulan mead I've been saving for such an occasion. Then all we would have to do is find a... relatively reasonable place to sit."
Gregnol watched his security expert excuse himself as the other man wandered off without a care in the world. "Da that would be perfect. You can pick the location then." He said looking at Ona allowing her to pick as he went the assembled crew and excused them back to duties. "We will be fine."
Burnie noted Ford following Zaza, but he wasn't letting Lihau out of his sight. Something about her rubbed him wrong - more than the phaser; he'd dated women before who'd actually shot at him - and he wasn't about to let her roam Rosie unwatched.
